After four years of dating, celebrity pair Rain and Kim Tae Hee have finally tied the knot.
Rain (born Jung Ji Hoon), a South Korean R&B singer and actor, has married his long time girlfriend and fellow actress Kim Tae Hee in a modest church ceremony at Gahoe-dong Cathedral in Gahoe-dong, Jongno district, Seoul on January 19.
In a wedding ceremony that lasted for about 90 minutes, Rain wore a black suit while Tae Hee looked radiant in a white dress that was above the knee.
Only a few close friends and family members were invited to the wedding. Among those present were “Gangnam Style”-famed singer Psy, JYP Entertainment’s Park Jin Young, actor Ahn Sung Ki (Rain’s godfather), Park Joon Hyung, Yoon Kye Sang and Kim Tae Woo of Korean pop group g.o.d, and Tae Hee’s best friend, Miss Korea Lee Honey.
According to Sports Chosun, Park Jin Young gave a spiritual gift to the newlyweds by singing a song called “You’re The One.” Honey caught the bouquet of flowers.
After the wedding, Kim Tae Hee released a handwritten letter through her agency to thank her fans and talk about her marriage.
Their engagement was announced last January 17 in a post on Rain’s Instagram. In a heartfelt, handwritten letter to his followers, the 34-year-old singer thanked his fans who have always stood by him after his debut 16 years ago. He went on to praise his woman by writing, “[Kim Tae Hee] has always been there for me, unmoving, in sad times and in happy times, and she never fails to amaze me.”
Preparations for the wedding were carried out secretly with guests informed of the place and time only a day before. Private security guards surrounded the venue to prevent the media from getting a glimpse of the famous pair.
The Korean superstar, also known as the “Justin Timberlake of the East,”and the 36-year-old actress of “Iris” first met on the set of a commercial shoot in 2012. Rain recently released a new song produced by Psy, and fans speculated that it was dedicated to his then fiancée.
Titled “The Best Present,” the song features a music video showing Rain smoothly dancing with Michael Jackson-inspired choreography while crooning sweet lyrics, such as “the best present which the world gave me, it’s you. I want to dream same thing with you.”
Both of their agencies have confirmed that they will not be having a honeymoon anytime soon.
The newlyweds will be residing in Rain’s residence. According to a report, they own a combined 50 billion won (approximately $42.8 million USD) in property.
