6 Must-Try Beauty Trends Using Pantone’s Color of the Year 2017

As the curtain draws a close on 2016, we’re saying goodbye to its official hues, Rose Quartz and Serenity as chosen by Pantone, an authority on color trend forecasting. Many experts eagerly wait for Pantone’s annual reveal and try to incorporate these shades into various creative designs and beautiful art.

The world of beauty and makeup is no exception. We’ve seen Pantone collaborate with different brands to create cosmetics that are stunning, bold, and experimental.

For 2017, Pantone has decided to go with the “refreshing and revitalizing shade” of Greenery. Calling it “symbolic of new beginnings”, it describes the color as “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew” – perfect for the new year, don’t you think?

If you want to reinvent yourself this 2017 by being a little more daring, be prepared to rock out with these fabulous beauty trends and turn heads. Whoever said green was only associated with Mother Earth?

1) NAIL POLISH

Cosmetics brand Butter London immediately jumped on the bandwagon by announcing that it is the official Pantone beauty partner for 2017, so expect to see a lot of dazzling creations inspired by the trending color.

First off, the brand has launched a collection of nail polish influenced by Greenery and other shades of nature. Take a leaf out of their book, and try this chic color on your hands and feet. This is the safest way to incorporate green into your beauty routine if you’re not feeling that brave yet. With so many similar shades available out there, now’s the perfect time to experiment if you’re used to nudes, pastels, and reds. Need inspiration? Check out this page.

2) EYESHADOW

Green eyelids aren’t exactly a popular choice among women, but if you wanted to step out of your comfort zone and pull off this look, you totally can. All you need is a dash of confidence mixed with sass – and you’re good to go.

Make Up For Ever Artist Eyeshadow in Acidic Green (available in Sephora) is a bit vivid, but according to a beauty tip on Bustle: “Try putting just a dab at the inner corners of your eye, or use a wispy shadow brush to dust a light wash of color over your lids for a springy, playful vibe.” Don’t be afraid to layer on different looks by mixing and matching. Who knows, it could probably suit you. Follow some Instagram-worthy ideas here.

3) MASCARA

While we’re focusing on the eyes, why not try green mascara as well? It adds a vibrant look to your peepers and gives off a dramatic flair. In the past, mascaras used to come in black and brown. These days, makeup brands have created various colors as wild as you can imagine.

Probably a tad intimidating at first, but you’ll definitely look party-ready. You’d be surprised as to how lively your lashes look by sporting this fun color.

4) EYELINER

The eyes are a beautiful canvas for expressing yourself. Depending on your mood and the look you want to achieve, you can play up your eyes any way you want to. Top off the 2017 Color of the Year look by putting on green eyeliner.

Perfect for those who aren’t confident enough to wear green eyeshadow, this is a more subtle choice. Whether you’re a fan of the pencil or liquid version, create a winged look or a cat’s eye to achieve that classic, sexy stare.

5) LIPS

Now this is the part where only the bold dare to continue reading. To have green puckers is a bit “out there” and some would find it appalling, but it’s how you carry yourself that matters. Like they always say, “wear your makeup, don’t let it wear you”.

Embrace your fun side by using a shade like NYX Macaron Lippie in Key Lime. You’ll definitely get second glances alright, but pout those green lips with pride. You only live once anyway, so why  not try experimenting once in awhile?

6) HAIR

Yes, you read that right. HAIR. You don’t have to go full on green unless you’re willing to take that beauty risk. Instead, why not opt for a green ombre or green streaks?
