A Wedding Of The Lanna Kingdom

We were enthralled with the regal wedding inspired by the olden Lanna Kingdom. Inspired by the expansive and spectacular venue, Dhara Dhevi Hotel Chiang Mai, the wedding effortlessly recreated the grandeur of Lanna Kingdom giving us a glimpse of the rich era.

Speaking casually with Nanya, lead planner of The Wedding Bliss Thailand about this stunning wedding, ‘I’ve always wondered what it takes to orchestrate that perfect wedding especially one of such grand and luxe scale’, bearing in mind we are far away from The wedding Bliss homebase in Phuket and most recently they’ve set another based in Koh Samui, an upcoming luxury edding destination in Thailand.

Nanya quips ‘I’d like to think it’s similar with a stage or concert production, they are just as exciting and as challenging. The stage production, light and sound, floristics, — all of these and more need to come together in the process of creating a remarkable wedding celebration for our couple.’

And just like a movie set needs a director, an orchestra needs a conductor to run their performance, a wedding needs a professional planner with their experience and taste to ensure integrity, style and smooth running of a wedding celebration.  ‘What does it really take Nanya? How much is put into creating this wedding here?’

‘Over the years of our work, we’ve done around 400 events, and each of them was unique and remarkable to us, each of them taught us something, but some of them did more than that: they raised our standards, our skills to a whole new level. This recent wedding in Chiang Mai was one of such events, and we want you to see a bit more than the perfect final picture today’

‘We spent 3 glorious days in this historic city, preparing, briefing, rehearsing, setting up and orchestrating this unforgettable wedding, and we want to share it with you today.’

‘Every wedding starts with the venue, and this wedding has got arguably the most impressive backdrop in the north of Thailand. A renown Dhara Dhevi Hotel Chiang Mai is the place that captured our imagination for quite some time, and we were really excited to be able to project our creative imagination in their premises. Beautiful Lanna period architecture and numerous traditional elements in the hotel inspired us to create a true-life fairy tale for our couple.’

The ceremony was set to take place with a gorgeous and grandiose backdrop of main hotel structure, creating a regal outline of the background. Ceremony arch, set on a stage in the middle of a spacious square, was simple in its square shape with lush greenery base, then elaborately decorated with fresh flowers. Floral elements were mainly constituted by gorgeous orchids, hydrangea and roses in deep purple, magenta and white colours. Hanging floral gardens in the arch added a dynamic element to the overall decor, while the aisle stands in mirrored glass add sparkle from the dancing sun rays and made the wedding even more enchanting.

Thanks to the versatility of hotel’s premises, the ceremony and celebration throughout the day is as unique. After the ceremony, guests’ proceeded to the sunset deck set amongst picturesque rice fields landscape. The wedding team was careful to avoid clustering the space with too many props and furniture, which the venue do not need. Instead, Nanya and her team of creatives focus on working with the lighting company and florist geniuses, IAMFLOWER on creating an atmospheric ambience playing with the timing, using the right lights, strategically placed lanterns and high cocktail tables to encourage flow and easy conversations amongst the guests’. Large initial letters of the couple’s name set in the rice field made the perfect backdrop for the evening celebration. ideas, wedding, thailand, phuket - A Wedding Of The Lanna Kingdom

A large truss construction as raised above Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai’s spacious grass lawn, serving as a frame for decorative drapings and lights. The focal points of the whole space and main decorative elements were 3 massive floral chandeliers above the dining table. The end results was the fruition of thousands of hours of labour, day and night in the past weeks leading up the day.

‘It might have been crazy but it is always worth it for our couple’

The night was not over with the dinner, and the celebrations continued with an after party back at the main square, which we turned into a spectacular dance floor with party lights and bar set up. The fireworks made one perfect opening scene for the start of the party, and we we saw people dancing the night away having amazing time, we knew that the event was a success.
