Dave & Dani’s Rustic Bohemian Wedding in Western Australia

Dave and I met officially at a festival in Perth. I was with my best friend and a few other girlfriends and Dave was with the boys. A few friends had always said to me that Dave and I would be a good match. Once we met at the festival we went back to a friends and were hanging out. A few days after the festival, I sent him a few funny YouTube videos and we kept in contact. One night I was home alone and my power went out. Knowing that Dave was an electrician, I called him straight away. Lets just say that was the start of our love story!

Tell us a little bit about the proposal.

The night we got engaged was a complete surprise! I had just started school holidays and was feeling very unwell and had caught a cold. I had just finished cooking us both a curry and was sitting in my trackie pants and hoodie. Dave had disappeared and I was wondering where he was. Our dog Maxx was strolling into the lounge room and Dave told me he had bought Maxx a new collar and to have a look. Because I was sick, I was not really in the mood to look at a collar. I dismissed it. Dave again told me to look at the collar and insisted I look at it. I read what was on the collar “Dani will you marry me?” I turned around and Dave was on his knee with a ring. I was in complete shock!

What was the inspiration for the wedding theme.

Our wedding planning experience had a few ups and downs but overall it was an enjoyable experience. We did a lot of the decorating ourselves which can be stressful but it is also very rewarding when you see it all come alive.
The most important thing about the wedding was that it represented Dave and I and how we like to spend time with our friends and family. We wanted the atmosphere to be relaxed but fun. We made sure that the decorative materials we had made was something that we made and represents our style. From the start of the wedding I wanted it to be vintage looking however as the planning continued, I started to go a bit more rustic and bohemian looking.
